Palm Springs area home sales are HOT!

Even though the rest of the nation is still sluggish in home sales, the Palm Springs area is selling!  Our sales numbers are up 7.5% the first quarter of  2011 over 2010.

Home buyers need to know the facts.  Inventory is decreasing, and sales are increasing.  If you are looking to buy, now is the time while our interest rates are still historically low.

This year, we are now seeing buyers from all over the world.  Its no secret that we are a strong second home market.  In the past month we have met buyers from all parts of Canada, many of the harsh winter states, Russia, and Shanghai.

We are selling the homes we have.  If you are a seller, please call us!  We need more homes to sell!

Martin Luther King Day

It is always a day to reflect on those who have served us in every capacity on holidays such as today.  For me, the practical application is from one of Martin Luther King’s  quotes:  ““Whatever your life’s work is, do it well.”

In the larger picture, we all hope that we can achieve the goals that Martin Luther King sought.  One of his most known quotes below, says it all.

“I’ve looked over, and I’ve seen the promised land. I may not get there with you, but I want you to know tonight that we as a people will get to the promised land. So I’m happy tonight. I’m not worried about anything. I’m not fearing any man.” — From a speech delivered in Memphis on April 3, 1968. King was assassinated the next day.”

Enjoy the day and celebrate each one we have!  And if you are in a snowy area, its a great time to visit us in the desert, and find a warm weather home!

Call me if you have any questions, 760-409-5181

If you are already here, and want to view properties from your smartphone, TEXT:  87778

Memorial Day Thoughts from a few Keller Williams Agents

It is with great appreciation and gratitude that we celebrate Memorial Day!  Without the brave men and women that have given their hearts, souls, and lives for our country, our lives might be far different than those we have today.

The freedoms we take for granted should be remembered today as we honor those that have sacrificed for these freedoms.

I’m sure each of us have those in our families who have sacrificed for all of us.  I want to pay special tribute to my Great Grandfather, Sigurd Peter Gaupset, who emigrated from Norway and fought in WWI for this country.  He was a hero in The Lost Battalion, one of the most talked about, and written about battles in WWI.  Movies have been made about this battle in the Argonne Forest, in France.  After being surrounded by Germans, these men, originally 700, then 554 caught in the pocket, fought for 5-6 days with limited ammo, lack of enough food and water.  Only 194 lived…my Great Grandfather being one of them.  The full story can be read at this link:  TheLostBattalion

Memorial Day is a time to honor and remember those that have fought for our freedoms and for our country.  On this day, please make sure to take a few moments of pause to thank those that have died protecting us and those that continue serving. As realtors close to a military base (Macdill – Tampa), we are regularly working with service members and we are so appreciative of everything they do.  We also have many close to us that we love that have served or are serving – my father lost a leg to a land mine and won the Purple Heart in Vietnam and my younger brother Derrik is presently serving in Afghanistan.  These types of sacrifices allow so many of us to continue to do what we love.  Thank you for sacrificing and serving for the greater good of the good ol’ USA!!

If any of you have or are serving now, we thank you and honor you on this beautiful day.  In honor of our service members, we will be donating portions of our June and July commissions generated from referrals to provide resources, products, goods and support to our military currently serving.

Thank you and Have a Wonderful Memorial Day!

“Wars may be fought with weapons, but they are won by men.” – General George Patton

Happy Memorial Day from Anne in St. Louis. If you have any veterans in your life, please tell them thank you from me and feel free to share this little poem I wrote to my Dad and for Veterans everywhere.

Written for: Francis R. Duffy, my dad

World War II Veteran

Purple Heart Recipient May 14, 1945

Wounds received in Germany Mar 7, 1945

Died Aprl 23, 2005

5 Bronze Campaign Stars

THANK YOU, DEAR DAD

Thank you, dear Dad

For answering the call

Your bravery in World War II

helped America stand tall

My generation doesn’t even understand

What your generation did for our land

How you left…mere boys of eighteen

To go fight at places, yet unseen

To experience horror, pain and fear

And yet you went

To fight for everything

America held dear

You went without even asking why

You went knowing

that you could possibly die

Dear Dad, you should be honored every day

And yet you never mention it

Do you remember it in your heart?

Are you proud that you did your part?

World War II men possess strengths

That my generation doesn’t even know

Quiet bravery, courage & unity

Against a common foe

You were tested in countless ways untold

Yet you marched forth in battle,

proud and bold

You saw stories that are too awful to recall

You saw your fellow soldiers

and your dear friends fall

Then, you came back, married,

raised a family

Built a country too,

still prosperous and free

Time marched on…steady and true

And 50 years later,

we still remember you

You are grandfather’s now

and your hair is gray

But you’ll always be our hero,

for you led the way

You preserved this country

where our children play

Strong and free

every single day

The grim trials you endured

The unspeakable things you saw

Our children know not the cost

Nor the cherished friends that you lost

But we will teach them the lessons,

You taught with your lives

About courage and dignity

and the will to survive

About the great ideal

of democracy

About the price you paid

to save the “the home of the free”

So thank you, dear Dad

I can’t express it enough

I appreciate you for being so tough

Thank you, dear Dad

for being so strong

Thank you, dear Dad
for standing up against wrong

You’ll always be my hero

and America’s too

We will always be

indebted to you

Thanks for going so long ago

Thanks for securing this blessed life I know

Thanks for fighting to keep us free

Thanks for saving the future for me.

Keller Williams Realty Ranked as Top Real Estate Franchise by Industry Leader and Entrepreneur Magazine

Keller Williams Realty Ranked as Top Real Estate Franchise by Industry Leader and Entrepreneur Magazine

AUSTIN, TEXAS (December 21, 2009) — Keller Williams Realty joined the ranks of the top franchises in the world last week, when the company was ranked as the No. 1 real estate franchise on the 31st Annual Franchise 500 list by Entrepreneur magazine. During the same week, the company was also voted the Most Recognizable Brand of Real Estate Franchises for 2009 in an industry-wide survey for the Swanepoel TRENDS Report.

“The Swanepoel TRENDS Report is a respected source for the real estate industry and beyond, as is Entrepreneur magazine, and we are excited to see our agents honored in this way for all of their hard work,” said Mark Willis, CEO, Keller Williams Realty. “We certainly wouldn’t have been included on either list without the dedication and resolve of our agents.”

According to the ranking in Entrepreneur magazine, the most important criteria to determine the top franchises included financial strength and stability, as well as growth rate and size of the franchise system. The magazine also looked at the number of years the company has been in business and the length of time it’s been franchising, in addition to start-up costs and financial data. Additionally, Keller Williams Realty made an impressive showing on the overall list, placing higher than any other real estate franchise.

The Swanepoel TRENDS Report is published by Stefan Swanepoel, a real estate industry speaker and insider. The survey was crafted to determine the Most Recognizable Brand for Real Estate Franchises for his report out in February 2010. The survey included votes cast by 11,000 plus real estate agents, who cast 390,000 votes to select the top 10.

Earlier in the year,Keller Williams Realty also received the highest overall satisfaction ratings from home buyers among the largest full-service real estate firms from J.D. Power and Associates for the second year in a row.

“We are extremely proud that our associates and company are being recognized for our strength and stability during this time in our industry,” said Mary Tennant, president and COO, Keller Williams Realty. “We attribute our success to being in business with phenomenal people and to our core business models, which have allowed our franchises to thrive during any market.”

Existing home sales…selling fast!

by Signe Beck, Luxury Realtor Specialist

Locally, our housing inventory continues downward, as sales continue to climb.  National reports indicate the same.  At Keller Williams in La Quinta, Rancho Mirage, and Palm Springs, we are seeing that homes priced right, are selling fast.   Buyers no longer can dilly dally in their search.  They must be ready to take action when opportunities arise.  Confidence is building as buyers are seeing incredible values for the long term.  View homes for sale at www.SigneBeck.com

Also posted today, 8/21/09:

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) — Sales of existing homes rose in July for the fourth consecutive month, lending support to economists who argue a recovery is near.

Sales of previously owned single-family homes were up 7.2% compared with June and 5% from July 2008, The National Association of Realtors (NAR) reported Friday. The monthly gain was the largest on record for existing-home sales, which NAR has tracked since 1999.

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) — Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke said that the U.S. economy is about to start growing again, although he cautioned it will be a slow recovery with continued high unemployment in the near term.

Speaking at an annual symposium in Jackson Hole, Wy., Bernanke echoed a statement made by the Fed earlier this month, saying that “economic activity appears to be leveling out, both in the United States and abroad.”

More Great Real Estate News in the Desert!

May 09 numbers confirm what I am seeing out in the Real Estate Market here in La Quinta, Rancho Mirage, Palm Desert, & Palm Springs!
Hopefully you will be able to see the attached powerpoint. It shows how inventory is decreasing, sales are increasing locally!

Luxury Real Estate in Palm Springs is heating up…

by Signe Beck, Luxury Realtor Specialist

Our real estate market here in the Palm Springs area of California is a little more unique than most cities.  In the winter,  our population doubles from 300,000 to 600,000 as snowbirds race to enjoy our perfect weather.  Our pricing on homes ismuch more affordable than Los Angeles, Orange, and San  Diego Counties, and we have over 122 golf courses.

We are now starting to see stabilization in our pricing, as our inventory has decreased from a 24 month supply to just around a 7 month supply.  With interest rates still the lowest they have been for over 4 decades, pricing favorable,  new tax incentives, this may be the best time to buy real estate since the Great Depression.  Come and visit our great towns of  La Quinta, Palm Desert, Rancho Mirage, Palm Springs, & Indio to see for yourself!   View luxury homes for sale at  www.SigneBeck.com

Keller Williams Celebrates Red Day!

by Signe Beck

Today at Keller Williams, our focus is on giving back to the community! Each office has chosen how they will accomplish their goal. Here in La Quinta, Rancho Mirage, and Palm Springs communities of California, we are donating blood at the blood bank, and donating food to charities.

I am proud to be a part of a company that focuses on the real values in life. Isn’t it obvious how we have grown to be the third largest Real Estate company in the USA?

Today, we celebrate life and giving back. Isn’t that what it is all about anyways?

I hope you will join us in our celebration of life, and have a singular focus to give back today :)

Housing market is stabilizing, just ask Bernanke!

I admit I tend to be an optimist, but even Bernanke has said the recession seems to be losing steam, and growth will likely return this year.
For the past two weeks, it has felt like the spigot of confidence has been turned on, and people are not afraid to be buying homes. At least you have a tangible investment, with defineable income and tax deferral opportunities. And if investment is not what you are looking for, how about a place to live and enjoy life!
